"Coming" is a much better translation than "presence."
As to the term Parousia which is stressed by WT's teaching, its legitimacy is highly doubtful.Because of the concept of presence which is wrongly introduced and stressed for the Last Day by the WTS, the clear and accurate understanding of it is hindered.

The correct interpretation is "Jesus' coming," instead of "Jesus' presence."
The signs in Mt 24 are the world conditions preceding Jesus' second Coming with kingly power, not the conditions in Jesus' invisible presence.
All JW are fooled by the idea of Jesus' invisible presence contrary to the Bible teaching.
The World War I in 1914 is weak in significance to fulfill the prophecy in Mt 24:7-8, in 2Ti 3:1-5, and in Re 6:1-8, since the effect of the war was yet for the limited area, not really worldwide, info and impact were not be shared with people in the world at the same time and in the same magnitude, unlike 21st century's Internet age.
WTS claims that the World War I is the unmistakable visible sign of the commencement of the Christ's invisible presence in heaven.
However there is no such an idea of Christ's invisible presence in heaven in the Bible.
The Bible clearly teaches Christ's Coming with spectacular display from the heaven.
Mt 24:30
30 And then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in lamentation, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Lu 21:27
27 And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
So the Christ's invisible presence is nothing but, "artfully contrived false stories" as described at 2Pe 1:16

As shown above, Jesus is to come back with great glory, as a mighty spirit being, with the manifestation of His arrival to judge the world as written in 2Th 2:8.

So the many people have been fooled by the 1914 hoax which is the artfully contrived false stories invented by CT Russel and have been distributed worldwide and been stressed by WTS.
It is impossible to know the timing of Christ's coming back as told by Christ himself at Mt 24:36. It is not calculable to determine the year for Jesus' coming back.
All adventist in the past including Russel mad this mistake.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

It is proper to interpret "Parousia" as "arrival" or "coming" in harmony with the context. (compare KJV with NWT) It would rather be better to interpret in that way.

They insists that sings of the presence of the Christ have been seen since 1914.
Do not be fooled by their faulty understanding of the prophecy.
It seems that the signs preceding Christ's coming are now emerging in a way that everybody in the world can detect at the same time and anywhere they may live in.
So I presume that there would be very exciting time for us to see the collapse of the WTS and the fulfillment of the prophecy in the Revelation hopefully in our life time soon.
Our times are truly unique.
First time in the human history, people can see events in the world simultaneously due to the development of Internet and other communication technology.It makes the Bible prophecy recognizable everywhere in the world, because everybody in the world can see the signs of this particular times of ours through modern communication technology.
