The effect of eating the fruit of knowledge of good and bad

Effect like a hormone

The serpent said to Eve that "in the very day of your eating from it your eyes are bound to be opened."

Then after eating the fruit, Eve gave some to her husband when with her.

At this point there was no effect of the fruit yet.

But on Adam's eating it, then the eyes of both of them became opened as the serpent said.
They begun to realize that they were naked.

Ge 3:5-7
5 For God knows that in the very day of YOUR eating from it YOUR eyes are bound to be opened . . . 6 . . . So she began taking of its fruit and eating it. Afterward she gave some also to her husband when with her and he began eating it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them became opened and they began to realize that they were naked.

As with mandrakes and plants that increase sexual drive, this fruit seems to have had some effect.

All of the sudden Adam and Eve view each other differently from before.
They must have felt that they took something that they were not ready to take.
They hide themselves from YHWH.

Though YHWY knew the things happened, he kept calling to Adam "Where are you?" From this we see that God deals with us according to our level which is subjected to time and space.

Finally Adam responded,

Ge 3:10
10 Finally he said: "Your voice I heard in the garden, but I was afraid because I was naked and so I hid myself."

Then God replied,

Ge 3:11
11 At that he said: "Who told you that you were naked? From the tree from which I commanded you not to eat have you eaten?"

Judging from what God said, the fruit seems to have to do with awareness of nakedness. And the self consciousness of nakedness is for the sexual union.

But Adam and Eve were not ready nor qualified for this stage of life yet.

Failure in waiting for God's direction

God asked "Who told you that you were naked?"

God himself has not told this to them yet.

Beginning with disobedience to God, a dissonance or disunity in mind and body begun. They were not ready in mind or inside, but their body started functioning toward the goal that is sexual union. They were not able to control their own desire of flesh anymore, since their spirit were broken due to sin that is belittling God Word.

At this moment, what they experienced became their DNA.
The Broken spirituality, tendency of disobedience, belittling God were inscribed into their DNA. We are born with these inherited sin and weaknesses, so that we make the same mistake repeatedly as Adam and Eve did.

In this unbalanced condition Adam and Eve can not live forever.
As God stated, they died.
On the day of their death, their suffering, pain and sorrow due to their sin ended.
They returned to the dust.

Adam and Eve were sinners and passed sin to us, their offspring.
Christ came to save sinners.

Adam's family will be benefited by the Christ's ransom.

Jesus came to call sinners.
Adam and Eve are the first sinners.
They are no difference from us.
They will be rescued by our Lord just as we are.

Mr 2:17
17 . . . "Those who are strong do not need a physician, but those who are ill do. I came to call, not righteous people, but sinners."

Lu 5:31-32
"Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but those who are ailing do. 32 I have come to call, not righteous persons, but sinners to repentance."

Ro 5:12
12 That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned-.

Ge 5:5
5 So all the days of Adam that he lived amounted to nine hundred and thirty years and he died.

Adam died, he was not thrown into the lake of fire, the second death.

Woman, Wife

Immediately after becoming aware of the nakedness of themselves, Adam had intercourse with Eve.
When Adam first met Eve, he called her "Woman."
At that time Adam didn't put her name "Eve."

The name "Eve" was named after sexual union.

Ge 3:8, 20-21
8 Later they heard the voice of YHWH God walking in the garden about the breezy part of the day, and the man and his wife went into hiding from the face of YHWH God in between the trees of the garden.
20 After this Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she had to become the mother of everyone living. 21 And YHWH God proceeded to make long garments of skin for Adam and for his wife and to clothe them.


Though Adam and Eve were sentenced to being out of garden of Eden and death, they seem to have been exercising faith in God's promised seed.

Ge 3:15
15 And I shall put enmity between you (serpent) and the woman and between your seed and her seed. He will bruise you in the head and you will bruise him in the heel."

Eve viewed Cain her first born, something received from God's help.

Ge 4:1-2
1 Now Adam had intercourse with Eve his wife and she became pregnant. In time she gave birth to Cain and said: "I have produced a man with the aid of YHWH." 2 Later she again gave birth, to his brother Abel.

130 years later, in case of Seth's birth also, Even acknowledged YHWH's intervention.

Ge 4:25
25 And Adam proceeded to have intercourse again with his wife and so she gave birth to a son and called his name Seth, because, as she said: "God has appointed another seed in place of Abel, because Cain killed him."

God's Kindness toward Adam's family

YHWH God was so kind in treating his earthly son and daughter who were stumbling on Satan's plot. God promised the seed from them to rescue them and their family. God sent his only begotten son later known Jesus Christ to ransom all sin including that of Adam.

The WT magazine depicts a doomed story of Adam and Eve, their way of presentation creates impression of hopelessness.
But there is no sense of despair in the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible thanks to the promised seed YHWH declared when they sinned.

There is hope for them.
Death is the reset of malfunctioned life.
They will learn the vital lesson of the value of obedience.

This was told to Adam from the beginning.

God's judgment toward Satan and Demons

But, Satan, the initiator of lie and angels who left heaven chasing after carnal desires, there are no extenuating circumstances. There is no death (reset) with hope for them but the second death, the lake of fire for their sins.

Mt 8:29
29 And, look! they screamed, saying: "What have we to do with you, Son of God? Did you come here to torment us before the appointed time?"

Jude 6
6 And the angels that did not keep their original position but forsook their own proper dwelling place he has reserved with eternal bonds under dense darkness for the judgment of the great day.

2Pe 2:4
4 Certainly if God did not hold back from punishing the angels that sinned, but, by throwing them into Tar'ta·rus, delivered them to pits of dense darkness to be reserved for judgment;

Mr 1:24
24 saying: "What have we to do with you, Jesus you Naz·a·rene'? Did you come to destroy us? I know exactly who you are, the Holy One of God."

Lu 4:34
34 "Ah! What have we to do with you, Jesus you Naz·a·rene'? Did you come to destroy us? I know exactly who you are, the Holy One of God."

19 You believe there is one God, do you? You are doing quite well. And yet the demons believe and shudder.

Heb 10:26-27, 31
26 For if we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left, 27 but [there is] a certain fearful expectation of judgment and [there is] a fiery jealousy that is going to consume those in opposition.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of [the] living God.

Jude 20-21
20 But YOU, beloved ones, by building up yourselves on YOUR most holy faith, and praying with holy spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God's love, while YOU are waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ with everlasting life in view.
