Satan

t f B! P L

A spirit son who became Satan by his own accord.

Satan didn't deny the existence of God, but he did deny the attributes of God.

He questioned God's motives and ways (methods, ways of dealing) for his own convenience. He wished for the opposite of God's attributes.

He chose to do something shoddy that could not be perpetuated. The responsibility is his own and he can not blame another for what he has become.

The Spirit of God is a reflection of the attributes of God, and Satan has retreated from that spirit and adamantly manifested his own unique spirit, a reasoning, temperament, and attitude that is not in harmony with the Spirit of God.

It would be ethically, legally, and physically impossible for such one to be reset. It is a choice of the path of extinction, and can only lead to self-chosen extinction (eternal annihilation of existence). The blessings of life won't extend to those who reject God, who do not harmonize with His spirit, who hate the life given by God.

Such a being hates and despises the attributes of God (love, kindness, etc.), and desires and chooses to return to worthless nothingness. It is a choice, and God will deal with him according to the desires of his heart.

Manifestation of God's spirit

Ga 5:22-23
22 . . . the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, 23 mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.

the spirits contrary to above God's spirit

Self-centeredness, putting one's own desires first, preferring conflict and violence, selfishness, indifference to the needs of others, cold-heartedness, not understanding the pain of others, lying, hypocrisy, arrogance, insulting kindness, suspiciousness, preferring to dominate and use others, wanting to occupy first place, and the like. Those attitudes that cannot be harmonized with the spirit of God sacrifice others for their own benefit.

Sins against the Spirit of God

Rejecting the manifestation of God's Spirit is a sin against God's Spirit. We cannot judge whether person has guilty of sin against God's spirit or not. God Himself will weigh the degree of sin against Himself.

An example of unclean spirit which can not in accord with God's spirit.

Satan's spirit that became revealed when he tried Job

Satan questioned Job's motives for serving God and demanded to test him. What do you think of the mental state, temperament, and spirit of someone who can come up with such a thing and do it with ease? Does it harmonize with the caring and pure spirit of God?

Job 1:9-22
9 At that Satan answered YHWH and said: “Is it for nothing that Job has feared God? 10 Have not you yourself put up a hedge about him and about his house and about everything that he has all around? The work of his hands you have blessed, and his livestock itself has spread abroad in the earth. 11 But, for a change, thrust out your hand, please, and touch everything he has [and see] whether he will not curse you to your very face.” 12 Accordingly YHWH said to Satan: “Look! Everything that he has is in your hand. Only against him himself do not thrust out your hand!” So Satan went out away from the person of YHWH.

13 Now it came to be the day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother the firstborn. 14 And there came a messenger to Job, and he proceeded to say: “The cattle themselves happened to be plowing and the she-asses were grazing at the side of them 15 when the Sa‧be′ans came making a raid and taking them, and the attendants they struck down with the edge of the sword; and I got to escape, only I by myself, to tell you.”

16  While this one was yet speaking that one came and proceeded to say: “The very fire of God fell from the heavens and went blazing among the sheep and the attendants and eating them up; and I got to escape, only I by myself, to tell you.”

17 While that one was yet speaking another one came and proceeded to say: “The Chal‧de′ans made up three bands and went dashing against the camels and taking them, and the attendants they struck down with the edge of the sword; and I got to escape, only I by myself, to tell you.”

18  While this other one was yet speaking, still another one came and proceeded to say: “Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother the firstborn. 19 And, look! there came a great wind from the region of the wilderness, and it went striking the four corners of the house, so that it fell upon the young people and they died. And I got to escape, only I by myself, to tell you.”

20 And Job proceeded to get up and rip his sleeveless coat apart and cut the hair off his head and fall to the earth and bow down 21 and say:

“Naked I came out of my mother’s belly,
And naked shall I return there.
YHWH himself has given, and YHWH himself has taken away.
Let the name of YHWH continue to be blessed.”

22 In all this Job did not sin or ascribe anything improper to God.

Job 2:1-8
1 Afterward it came to be the day when the sons of the [true] God entered to take their station before YHWH, and Satan also proceeded to enter right among them to take his station before YHWH.

2 Then YHWH said to Satan: “Just where do you come from?” At that Satan answered YHWH and said: “From roving about in the earth and from walking about in it.” 3 And YHWH went on to say to Satan: “Have you set your heart upon my servant Job, that there is no one like him in the earth, a man blameless and upright, fearing God and turning aside from bad? Even yet he is holding fast his integrity, although you incite me against him to swallow him up without cause.” 4 But Satan answered YHWH and said: “Skin in behalf of skin, and everything that a man has he will give in behalf of his soul. 5 For a change, thrust out your hand, please, and touch as far as his bone and his flesh [and see] whether he will not curse you to your very face.”

6 Accordingly YHWH said to Satan: “There he is in your hand! Only watch out for his soul itself!” 7 So Satan went out away from the person of YHWH and struck Job with a malignant boil from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. 8 And he proceeded to take for himself a fragment of earthenware with which to scrape himself; and he was sitting in among the ashes.

As shown above Satan doesn't care for other's suffering for proving his idea. Such a spirit does not go along with God's spirit. Satan is totally self-centered being who takes advantage of others for his own gain.

The spirits of religious leaders who were offended and outraged by Jesus' miraculous healing.

Mr 3:1-6, 28-30
1 Once again he entered into a synagogue, and a man was there with a dried-up hand. 2 So they were watching him closely to see whether he would cure the man on the sabbath, in order that they might accuse him. 3 And he said to the man with the withered hand: “Get up [and come] to the center.” 4 Next he said to them: “Is it lawful on the sabbath to do a good deed or to do a bad deed, to save or to kill a soul?” But they kept silent. 5 And after looking around upon them with indignation, being thoroughly grieved at the insensibility of their hearts, he said to the man: “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored. 6 At that the Pharisees went out and immediately began holding council with the party followers of Herod against him, in order to destroy him.

28 Truly I say to YOU that all things will be forgiven the sons of men, no matter what sins and blasphemies they blasphemously commit. 29 However, whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit has no forgiveness forever, but is guilty of everlasting sin.” 30 This, because they were saying: “He has an unclean spirit.”

Mt 12:9-14, 22-24, 31-32
9 After departing from that place he went into their synagogue; 10 and, look! a man with a withered hand! So they asked him, “Is it lawful to cure on the sabbath?” that they might get an accusation against him. 11 He said to them: “Who will be the man among YOU that has one sheep and, if this falls into a pit on the sabbath, will not get hold of it and lift it out? 12 All considered, of how much more worth is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do a fine thing on the sabbath.” 13 Then he said to the man: “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and it was restored sound like the other hand. 14 But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against him that they might destroy him.

22 Then they brought him a demon-possessed man, blind and dumb; and he cured him, so that the dumb man spoke and saw. 23 Well, all the crowds were simply carried away and began to say: “May this not perhaps be the Son of David?” 24 At hearing this, the Pharisees said: “This fellow does not expel the demons except by means of Be‧el′ze‧bub, the ruler of the demons.”

31 “On this account I say to YOU, Every sort of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the spirit will not be forgiven. 32 For example, whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come.

Lu 6:6-11
6 In the course of another sabbath he entered into the synagogue and began teaching. And there was a man present whose right hand was withered. 7 The scribes and the Pharisees were now watching him closely to see whether he would cure on the sabbath, in order to find some way to accuse him. 8 He, however, knew their reasonings, yet he said to the man with the withered hand: “Get up and stand in the center.” And he rose and took his stand. 9 Then Jesus said to them: “I ask YOU men, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good or to do injury, to save or to destroy a soul?” 10 And after looking around at them all, he said to the man: “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was restored. 11 But they became filled with madness, and they began to talk over with one another what they might do to Jesus.

The reaction of the general public to the miraculous healing work was to rejoice and praise God along with the healed people, but the reaction of the religious leaders, who were only interested in preserving their own authority, was full of anger and indifferent to the pain of others.

Lu 5:24-26
24 But in order for YOU to know that the Son of man has authority on the earth to forgive sins—” he said to the paralyzed man: “I say to you, Get up and pick up your little bed and be on your way home.” 25  And instantly he rose up before them, picked up what he used to lie on and went off to his home, glorifying God. 26 Then an ecstasy seized one and all, and they began to glorify God, and they became filled with fear, saying: “We have seen strange things today!”

Mt 9:7-8
7 And he got up and went off to his home. 8 At the sight of this the crowds were struck with fear, and they glorified God, who gave such authority to men.

Mr 2:12
12 At that he did get up, and immediately picked up his cot and walked out in front of them all, so that they were all simply carried away, and they glorified God, saying: “We never saw the like of it.”

Joh 9:30-34
30 In answer the man said to them: “This certainly is a marvel, that YOU do not know where he is from, and yet he opened my eyes. 31 We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is God-fearing and does his will, he listens to this one. 32 From of old it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of one born blind. 33 If this [man] were not from God, he could do nothing at all.” 34 In answer they said to him: “You were altogether born in sins, and yet are you teaching us?” And they threw him out!

The spirit of pride and self-centeredness that filled the hearts of religious leaders made them view the manifestation of God's Spirit as offensive and attribute the powerful work of God's Spirit to Satan. This kind of stubbornness and lack of insight and love has a potential to be a sin against the Spirit of God. It is for this reason that Jesus mentioned sin against the Spirit of God.

Mr 3:28-30
28 Truly I say to YOU that all things will be forgiven the sons of men, no matter what sins and blasphemies they blasphemously commit. 29 However, whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit has no forgiveness forever, but is guilty of everlasting sin.” 30 This, because they were saying: “He has an unclean spirit.”

No one knows who including the religious leaders and Pharisees of Jesus' time actually committed the sin against the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it would be a waste of thought to speculate whether Cain, the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, Pharaoh's army, Korah and Dathan, Nadab and Abib, the sons of Aaron, Solomon, Judas Is‧car′i‧ot, etc. sinned against the Holy Spirit.

There is no way we can do God's own work. Rather, it is far better to be aware of the deadly consequences of words and actions that do not harmonize with God's pure spirit, and to contemplate and practice the need and methods of harmonizing one's spirit with God's pure spirit.

Ga 5:25
25 If we are living by spirit, let us go on walking orderly also by spirit.

Satan stopped walking by God's spirit so that he developed his self-centered spirit to the point of no return.

About Me

I became a Christian being baptized in 1972. Since then, I was a Jehovah's Witnesses for about 40 years.

When I was an elder, I was removed from the eldership of the congregation because I took a position that differed from the policy of the Watchtower Society.

Many years of life as a Jehovah's Witnesses I have experienced a discord between the style of worship of the Watch Tower Society and the teachings of Christ. So, using the Internet I began investigating the Watchtower Society from its beginning.
